Deric DeMoss joined our Coaching Staff in the Fall of 2017. He leads our Varsity Soccer program for both boys and girls. Coach DeMoss has been involved with coaching soccer for over 12+ years delivering performance academy skills and academy/select club level training and is currently a club coach. Completing coaching educational coursework, he has obtained an NSCAA National, NSCAA Advanced Regional, USSF “D”, and USSF “E” licenses while extending his coaching knowledge earning Coerver’s Youth Skills I and II level Diplomas. Combined with his licenses and past playing experience, Coach DeMoss values improving every individual’s abilities through teaching the correct fundamentals, techniques, and tactics in all phases of the game.
Coaching has become a passion allowing Coach DeMoss to encourage, motivate, promote, and contribute to a player’s human development. As a coach, he is afforded the ability to deliver strategic thinking, problem solving, teamwork, communication, and character to someone else’s life. Coach DeMoss believes these skills help to build an individual’s confidence, respect, character, and good sportsmanship through competition transferable to managing everyday life challenges. Further, coaching provides him the opportunity to empower an athlete’s psychological, physical, and social development maximizing their potential to become future leaders.
Coach DeMoss holds a master’s degree in Computer Information Systems and completed his undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas. His wife, Missy, is a second grade teacher beginning her 11th year teaching at Westlake Academy. He has two daughters, Alli and Megan, who have attended the PYP and MYP programs at Westlake Academy.
