Anna Lisa Phillips joined Westlake Academy as the Secondary Guidance Counselor in 2017. Previously, she served as a guidance counselor at CISD for grades 9-12.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts with Honors at the University of Texas at Austin, where she studied Cultural Anthropology. After working in the non-profit world of health education for several years, she earned her Master of Science for Teaching at Le Moyne. Upon returning to Texas she taught AP World History in Fort Worth ISD, later earning her Advanced Certificate of School Counseling at Dallas Baptist University.
Her goal as a guidance counselor is to support ALL secondary Westlake Academy students academically and socially-emotionally. She intends to contribute to the safe school climate with proactive programming, teaching students how to process problems, identify solutions, and develop coping skills to life’s challenges. She intends to meet individually with students, in small groups, and through the advisory schedule for guidance lessons. As a connector, she also intends to collaborate with parents/guardians, teachers, staff, and administration to create an environment that helps increase the effectiveness of each student’s success
Ms. Phillips enjoys spending time with family, especially her PYP daughter, Maya.
