Ms. Jameel joined Westlake Academy in August 2017 after moving from the Sultanate of Oman, where she taught secondary mathematics from middle to high school. Ms. Jameel brings a wealth of international experience to her role, as well as her daughters, Maryam and Arwaa.
Ms. Jameel earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Sciences from Ajman University of Science and Technology, after which she moved to West Lafayette, Indiana to pursue a Masters of Science in Consumer Sciences and Retailing from Purdue University. After a few years in the corporate world, Ms. Jameel discovered her love for teaching in a Northern Virginia community.
Ms. Jameel’s love for the IB philosophy of education began with her Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction in IB from George Mason University. Since then, she has taught in British and IB curriculums all the way from upper elementary to Key Stage 3 (British middle school years) to IGCSE exam years to DP years to freshman college algebra. Her teaching experience has given her an insightful appreciation into how mathematics builds up sequentially from the foundation into university preparation.
In her free time, Ms. Jameel and her two daughters Maryam and Arwaa (both students of Westlake Academy), enjoy exploring their new surroundings.
