My name is Lisa Phillips and I serve as the Secondary Guidance Counselor at Westlake Academy! My goal as a guidance counselor is to support the academic and social-emotional needs of ALL secondary Westlake Academy students. My developmental and preventative guidance and counseling program will be designed to provide individual support, classroom guidance, and facilitate small groups, among other roles. I look to be present and available for students in times of adversity and also in times of celebration. I will meet individually with students facing academic or social-emotional challenges, and use solution-based strategies to help them gain tools to approach adversities with confidence. I also look forward to delivering interactive and relevant guidance lessons for your students, so we can together approach topics like time management, stress management, mindfulness, among many other life skills. Small Group services will be for students who share common experiences, providing guided peer support and growth. As a connector, I also intend to collaborate with parents/guardians, teachers, staff, administration, and the greater community to create an environment that helps increase the effectiveness of each student’s success.
Any student can request to meet with me, or they can be referred by a teacher, administrator, or parent. I encourage you to reach out if you have concerns regarding your student. Please encourage your student to come see me and introduce themselves. I look forward to getting to know everyone and provide intentional and effective support. I am here to help your students identify and achieve their personal, social and academic goals.
