Carl Tippen, a native of Corpus Christi, TX, has spent 20 years working in the fields of higher education and human resources for various organizations throughout his career. Carl worked in the undergraduate office of admissions for the University of Texas at Austin and Arlington for over five years. Carl left the UT System and became a faculty member at St. Mark’s School of Texas in 2000, where he spent four years as a college counselor. In addition to his college counseling duties, he was a teacher, coach and an advisor on campus. After leaving St. Mark’s, Carl began a career in Human resources.
Carl worked for Raytheon, Dallas ISD, and McGladrey in several human resources roles such as leading campus recruiting, performance management, succession planning, etc. throughout the US and internationally. Carl decided to leave the human resources field to return to the career that he truly loved. This is Carl’s third year at Westlake Academy and is extremely excited to lead the college counseling efforts. He has an unrelenting passion for college counseling and helping students and families navigate the college admissions process.
Carl holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Education from Dallas Baptist University. Carl currently resides in Plano, TX with his wife Misty, and 3 children – Julia, Stafford, and Griffin.
