Amanda DeGan became Town Manager for the Town of Westlake, Texas, in February 2019. She has spent the last 20 years in local government public service and has extensive experience in organizational development, governmental leadership, strategic planning, and the management of various departments within a municipality. She values the opportunity to work with others to create an inclusive community and living experience for the residents and believes that education is vital to our future success – be it in the oversight of the Town-owned charter school or through professional development for the staff teams.
Mrs. DeGan has served the Town of Westlake, and its municipal and academic stakeholders, holding various positions since 2001 and has had an integral role in the development and direction of the Academy. She is also the proud mother of graduates from the first and second cohorts of the school!
Mrs. DeGan is a credentialed manager through the International City/County Manager Association (ICMA), holds a Master’s Degree from the University of North Texas in Public Administration, and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in Political Science. She is a member of ICMA, North Texas City Management Association (NTCMA), the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) and the Pi Alpha Alpha honor society.
