Eva Cussen was born and raised in Valladolid, Spain. After working for four years in the HEB ISD foreign language department, she joined our Language B team in 2015. Sra. Cussen teaches Spanish 1 and Spanish 2A. She is a certified teacher and has a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. She attended the Universidad Complutense of Madrid and studied Political Science. She also attended the University of Houston and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Spanish. Prior to teaching, Sra. Cussen served as an interpreter for the Catholic Charities helping to bridge the language gap for those in need. She is an innovative, self-driven, highly organized and professional educator who prides herself on finding creative and energizing ways to engage students in learning both the Spanish language and developing a broader appreciation for and perspective of other cultures. Her goal is to challenge students, while at the same time making education fun. She strives to inspire her students to become lifelong learners with a broader worldview and to instill in them a passion for creating a better world through language and intercultural understanding. She loves to spend time with her sons, Nicolas and Tomas, and their dog Tango. She loves to travel, solve Rubik’s cubes, run and read.
