Amy Wessels will begin her twentieth year as an educator and is excited to begin her third year at Westlake Academy. Mrs. Wessels graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She continued her education by earning a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Prior to moving to the area, Mrs. Wessels taught in a multi-age program and has experience teaching 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. She has also served as an instructional coach and Austin Independent School District reading, writing, and math curriculum trainer. Amy holds certificates in Gifted & Talented, English as a Second Language, and a coaching endorsement. Her desire is to support students to surpass their potential by providing an environment where knowledge, skills, critical thinking, and universal human values are fostered and developed. It is her goal to prepare students to become internationally minded through the IB learner profile and visible learning. Mrs. Wessels and her husband, Derek, have three children, Kennedy, Cade, and Case. In her free time, she enjoys reading, being outdoors, and all types of sports.
