Mary Evelyn Wallace joined the Diploma Programme in the fall of 2013 after working at Westlake Academy as a substitute teacher, testing proctor and STAAR tutor. She previously taught in Irving ISD, and later in various private capacities including GED test preparation, college guidance, and tutoring in English composition, humanities, life sciences, and maths through Algebra.
Mary Evelyn earned a BA in English from Texas A&M University, with a minor in Animal Science and concentrated studies in Russian language and culture. After college, she traveled and served in South America and there developed a working knowledge of Spanish by immersion. She earned her Texas Teacher Certification in Secondary English at the University of Texas at Dallas.
She and her husband Mike have four grown children (two sons and twin daughters) and two beautiful grandchildren. Her intent in teaching is to foster in students an inclination toward truth, beauty, and goodness as well as an excellent academic work ethic and renewed intellectual humility.
