Gail James joined Westlake Academy in 2004, where she has taught everything from PYP / MYP / DP Visual Arts and Film Making. Originally from Kokomo, Indiana Ms. James has lived in Texas with her family since 1970. Mrs. James graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana in 1970 with a BS degree in Art Education. She went on to earn her MS degree from East Texas State University (now Texas A & M, Commerce) in illustration and advertising design.
Mrs. James taught art four years in Houston, one in Decatur, and four years in Vocational Commercial Art at Keller High School. She owned an art business for 15 years. In addition to teaching, Gail is a costumer / costume designer and has owned her own business for over 22 years. She costumes around 26 different plays a year. Some of her work includes: Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera (the Weber musical), Music Man, The King and I, La Bette, Once Upon a Mattress, Lion King, Jr., and many more.
Mrs. James has two grown daughters, Jackie and Jennifer. She and her husband enjoy spending time with their three grandchildren who live in Keller. Mrs. James has many hobbies, all of which involve a combination of art, vintage clothing, and theatre.
