Amy Hess joined Westlake Academy in 2014. She is celebrating her twenty-fifth year in education. Mrs. Hess is originally from Nebraska, where she graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska with a degree in Elementary Education. Upon moving to Texas, she taught third grade in Garland ISD, at The Episcopal School of Dallas, and at The Hockaday School. Mrs. Hess has served as a reading specialist and a language arts teacher to sixth, seventh and eighth grade students in Grapevine/Colleyville ISD, and she has taught sixth grade Language and Literature/Individuals and Societies at Westlake Academy. She is looking forward to starting her third year as the teacher/librarian at Westlake Academy where she hopes to help students develop a lifelong love of reading and research and an appreciation for the world around them.
When not teaching, Mrs. Hess enjoys being at home with her husband, Jim, and receiving visits from their two children who have recently graduated from Baylor University and moved to Dallas for their own careers.
