Rod Harding joined Westlake Academy in 2010. Mr. Harding holds a master's degree from New York State University and has 25 years of international teaching and administrative experience. Throughout his career and at Westlake Academy, Mr. Harding has extensive experience as PYP and MYP Principal and Director of Operations. For the past seven years, Mr. Harding has led our Primary Years Programme as Principal.
Along with his knowledge and experience as an instructional leader, he has taken on senior administrative roles in facility and curriculum development, as well as security and risk management. He has also held positions as a consultant in early Literacy and Numeracy programs in Australia and coordinated International School evaluations in the Middle East and Africa.
Mr. Harding is keenly interested in systems that create and maintain a culture of learning within the educational setting, meeting the diverse needs of students to reach their maximum potential and develop meaningful professional development programs for educators.
He has worked closely and collaboratively with school governors and Parent Teacher Associations to strengthen IB programs for students.
Born and raised in Australia, Mr. Harding has lived all over the globe including Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, the Sultanate of Oman and the United States. He enjoys all types of Asian cuisine, loves to travel and learn about different cultures and when he can find spare time, enjoys building furniture from recycled palettes.
