Laura Fischer is excited about the opportunity facilitate a challenging and safe learning environment for the upcoming G5 students this academic year. 2017-18 will be Mrs. Fischer’s fourth year of teaching and learning in the Westlake Academy community. Mrs. Fischer graduated from West Texas State University with a BA in Elementary Education, and she continued her education earning a Master’s Degree in Special Education from East Texas State University. She has gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for the IB Programme and is committed to developing internationally-minded students as she encourages the attributes valued by IB World Schools in her classroom. Mrs. Fischer has taught in public, parochial, and laboratory settings in several states. She has a passion for education,and she truly believes that every child can succeed and become a responsible member of his/her local, national and global community. Mrs. Fischer lives in Keller with her husband, Mike, and is proud of her two children, Ashley (U.T. Longhorn) and Michael (Ole Miss Rebel). Mrs. Fischer enjoys reading, the beach, and exercising. She is looking forward to additional professional growth and development opportunities and another another year of building relationships with colleagues, students and parents at Westlake Academy!
