This is Katie Estrada’s seventh year teaching at Westlake Academy and her eleventh year as a classroom teacher. She graduated from The University of Michigan with a dual concentration B.A. in English and Psychology. (Go blue!) After college, Mrs. Estrada was a Teach for America corps member and taught middle school English in McAllen, Texas. Then, she moved to Mexico City, Mexico where she taught middle and high school English at Westhill Institute for three years and completed her Masters of Arts in Teaching through Bridgewater State University. When she returned to Texas, she wrote for a curriculum support system. This year, Mrs. Estrada is excited to be teaching DP Literature and MYP Project-Based Research. Mrs. Estrada loves teaching at Westlake Academy because of IB's focus on international-mindedness and because of the small, family-like atmosphere. When she is not teaching, Mrs. Estrada enjoys traveling and visiting family in Michigan, North Carolina, and San Antonio with her husband, Victor, and their children Mia (4th grade) and Graciela (2nd grade), and Davis (two years old).
