Katie Estrada joined Westlake Academy in 2011 where she teaches MYP/DP Language Arts and guides our G10 students through their IB milestone, Personal Project. She graduated from The University of Michigan with a dual concentration B.A. in English and Psychology. (Go blue!) After college, Mrs. Estrada was a Teach for America corps member and taught middle school English in McAllen, Texas. Then, she moved to Mexico City, Mexico where she taught middle and high school English at Westhill Institute for three years and completed her Masters of Arts in Teaching through Bridgewater State University. When she returned to Texas, she wrote for a curriculum support system.
Mrs. Estrada loves teaching at Westlake Academy because of IB's focus on international-mindedness and because of the small, family-like atmosphere. When she is not teaching, Mrs. Estrada enjoys traveling and visiting family in Michigan, North Carolina, and San Antonio with her husband, Victor, and their children Mia and Graciela, both students in the PYP and Davis (future Blacksmith).
