Missy DeMoss, a second grade teacher, will begin her 11th year teaching at Westlake Academy. After receiving a business degree and later a post baccalaureate EC-4 teaching certification from the University of North Texas, she taught grade one for 7 years before transitioning to grade 2. Her personal philosophy is that children learn from their own experience and observations. This explains her passion for the International Baccalaureate curriculum where IB provides a framework allowing children to construct their knowledge and take ownership in their learning. Our school has a very diverse community full of internationally minded and knowledgeable educators, parents, and students. Since Mrs. DeMoss considers herself a lifelong learner, Westlake Academy has been an amazing environment for her to grow personally and professionally. On a more personal note, Mrs. DeMoss has two daughters, Alli and Megan who are in 11th and 9th grade and recently celebrated her 19th anniversary with her husband, Deric.
