Amanda Cawthra joined Westlake Academy in 2014 and is a graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri with a BS in Education. She is a certified teacher with more than 20 years’ experience in both primary and secondary education. Mrs. Cawthra believes that building relationships are key to student success and she practices this each and every day in the Kindergarten classroom.
Over the course of her career, she has mentored new teachers, trained teachers in the New Jersey Writing program, and is certified in both Gifted and Talented education and cooperative learning. She has multiple hours leading guided reading instruction, and has been instrumental on many curriculum teams. One of her passions outside of school is running. She says she feels fortunate to be able to put that passion to good use and coach our Westlake Junior High and High School cross country running teams in the Fall. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and four children, all of whom attend Westlake Academy.
