Amanda Cawthra is a graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri with a BS in Education. She is a native Texan and is excited to start her fourth year at Westlake Academy. She is a certified teacher with 22 years’ experience in both primary and secondary education and believes that building relationships are key to student success. Over the course of her career, Amanda has mentored new teachers, trained teachers in the New Jersey Writing program, is certified in Gifted and Talented education, and cooperative learning. She has multiple hours leading guided reading instruction, and has been instrumental on many curriculum teams. Amanda has attended level II and III IB trainings and is looking forward to continuing her journey next year teaching Kindergarten at Westlake Academy. One of Amanda’s passions outside of school is running. She says she feels fortunate to be able to put that passion to good use and coach our Westlake Junior High and High School teams in the fall. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and four children ages 17, 15, 12 and 7.
