In 2014, Nicole Bauer joined Westlake Academy as a G3 classroom teacher. After two years, she accepted the new position of Mathematics Curriculum Specialist. She brings excitement and conceptual understanding while looking for ways to bring inquiry to the PYP math program. She firmly believes in the need to appreciate the wonders of number relationships and connections around us.
Mrs. Bauer earned her BA in education from Creighton University and started her career in Nebraska, moved to Iowa, Puerto Rico, and eventually Texas.
Mrs. Bauer came to Westlake with experience conducting professional development, curriculum writing, reading recovery, and teaching Gifted and Talented. She has been a classroom teacher/lead for grades spanning first thru DP. All of these experiences have given her great insight into how students learn best.
Supporting educators who teach early years has proven successful as this is where foundations are created and developed. Over the past three years her efforts in establishing an IB Mathematics Program that values creative thinking and curiosity has had a high impact on teacher methodology and student performance.
