Technology at Westlake Academy

In the age of technology, Westlake is committed to ensuring that all students acquire full computer literacy at an early age. Westlake Academy’s state-of-the-art technology is available to all students, and they are taught skills such as keyboard orientation, basic word processing, creative graphic design, desktop publishing options, and computer management skills.  Supervised access to the Internet and e-mail opens connections with students around the world.  MYP Design is offered in G6 through G10.

The 4Cs of 21st century skills (collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking) serve as the cornerstone for the learning at Westlake Academy. By combining traditional teaching with digital learning experiences, we can prepare our students for the technology-infused world in which we live. Our teachers aim to expose them to a variety of digital platforms including:

Google suite

Google Classroom

Seesaw (PYP)

Virtual & Augmented Reality

Westlake Academy believes technology, when used in a responsible, efficient, ethical, and legal manner offers valuable, diverse, and unique resources to administrative  staff, teachers, and students that promote educational excellence. Westlake Academy is committed to helping students and staff use technology as an effective educational and administrative tool and to meet state and national educational standards. It is understood that students and staff will use technology in a mature and professional manner in accordance with Westlake Academy’s Acceptable Use Policy.

Our school began using Securly this Fall in an effort to help keep students safe on their school-issued iPads. As part of the implementation, we are giving all WA families access to the free SecurlyHOME app. If you have not yet downloaded this App, please click on these instructions. Signing up is the first step in becoming more connected with the specifics of how your student is spending their time online.
