Physical and Health Education
The Physical and Health Education Department affectively uses the International Baccalaureate aims through the instructional lens. Students use inquiry to explore physical and health education concepts, participate effectively in a variety of contexts, understand the value of physical activity, achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle, collaborate and communicate effectively build positive relationships, demonstrate social responsibility, and reflect on their learning experiences.
In addition to teaching the International Baccalaureate curriculum, state mandated Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) are used to develop unit plans. It is the belief that through the IB and TEKS curriculum, students can foster a desire to be life-long learners through physical activity.
Our Primary Years Program (K-5) is taught under the direction of Karon Gopffarth and Lizzy Burnett.
The Middle Years Program (6-10) is taught under the direction of Ray Cheatham and Chad Nothe.
