WA earns top rating by TEA & scores #1 school in the State's list of districts!

Congratulations to our students and staff on this incredible achievement! The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released its new accountability grades/ratings this week, giving a letter grade or rating to all public schools. As a district, WA earned the top spot in the State with a score of 98. TEA Commissioner of Education Mike Morath released an announcement, praising Westlake Academy's commitment to excellence. You can read the entire press release here.
TEA representatives explained to Dr. Bryson that since we are a single campus for K-12 students, TEA did not include us in the campus grading but only the district ratings. Their plan is to integrate single campus schools into the A-F grading next year. WA earned a Met Standard rating, the highest rating available, and was stilled scored along with all other school districts.
We want to remind our parents and students that TEA's latest rating system is just one metric you can use when evaluating the performance of a school. WA feels there are several more to consider when examining the overall quality of a student's education.
Parents are encouraged to visit TXschools.org to view online report cards designed to be useful tools in seeing how a school or school district is doing in different areas. The report cards spotlight specific strengths, in addition to any challenges, that can assure the needs of all students are being met. Parents can search by district or school name and compare that district’s or school’s performance to others in their area.
