Welcome to the Westlake Academy Diploma Programme (DP) site. These pages are designed to share with parents the programs, activities, features, and news that combine to make Westlake Academy’s Diploma Programme an integral part of our outstanding IB World School.

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme has been developed for students from ages 16 to 19. The DP engages students in a rigorous broad-based pre-collegiate curriculum during their last two years of secondary school. It offers an inquiry-based liberal arts curriculum that incorporates the best educational practices from around the world. These practices focus on critical thinking and problem solving. Westlake Academy also aligns its DP curriculum and requirements with the Texas Education Association’s (TEA) standards. The Academy was authorized in the DP in 2008 and graduated its first IB Diploma class in 2010. 

 At Westlake Academy, we believe in the IB-for- all philosophy, which means all our Grade 11 and Grade 12 students are diploma candidates and sit for the diploma exams at the end of their Senior year. Since our authorization, we have seen great growth in our programme, both in the ranges of courses we offer and in levels of student achievement. For each of the past three years, 90% of our diploma candidates have gained their IB diploma, compared to the traditional global pass rate of around 80%. Moreover, all our graduates benefit greatly from an IB education, and leave Westlake as internationally-minded lifelong learners.
