Dear Westlake Academy Families,

A few things I love about Westlake Academy: The excitement in the hallways on the first day of school. Students eagerly discussing ideas that stretch far beyond the textbook. The confidence our graduates carry as they leave prepared for universities and careers around the world. The pride of seeing our students compete, perform, create, and serve with excellence. Teachers who challenge students to think deeply, ask meaningful questions, and discover their passions. Families who volunteer their time, celebrate one another's successes, and make this community feel like home.

This past year gave us even more to celebrate. Being named Charter School of the Year affirmed what we have always known, that Westlake Academy is a truly special place. Our outstanding IB and AP results reflected the dedication of our students and educators, while continued improvements in our operations and systems allow us to invest even more intentionally in the student experience.

Maybe what I love most is that Westlake Academy never stands still. We are always asking how we can learn more, serve better, and create even greater opportunities for our students. Whether through the IB framework, innovative teaching, athletics, the arts, service, or leadership, our students are encouraged to grow into thoughtful, compassionate, and courageous individuals who are prepared to make a difference.

As we begin a new school year, know that our faculty and staff have been eagerly preparing for your arrival. They are passionate about their work, committed to every student's success, and genuinely excited to welcome you back to campus.

Beyond Instruction

Beginning of the Year Check List

- Create PowerSchool log in, download app and log-in for access to grades and attendance.

- Look for an email to create your Toddle log in, download app and log-in for access to assignments, class schedules, due dates, and teacher communication. Be sure to set your preferences to receive teacher communication.

- Create school lunch account, log-in and save as a bookmark on web browser for quick access to lunch accounts. Website here.

- Sign-in to RevTrak and save quicklink for easy access to pay for school fees (including field trips, clubs, technology, etc) and to purchase uniform outerwear.

- Create SportsYou log in, download app, and create your student athlete accounts for access to all athletic fees, schedules, and communication. SportsYou Information Link.

- For the safety of our students, anyone who volunteers at Westlake Academy in any capacity (HOC, Booster Club, Library, Classroom parent, etc.) must complete the yearly Volunteer Background Agreement and Check at least one week before volunteering.

- Sign up to recieve the Athletic's Blacksmith Briefing.

- Access Westlake HOC page, join, sign-up for monthly newsletters, and pay membership fee.

- Access the Blacksmith Booster Club if you're interested in staying aware and involved with WA Athletics. Join by paying the membership fee.

- On Facebook: Follow Westlake Academy IB Charter School, Westlake Academy House of Commons, Westlake Academy Foundation, and Westlake Academy Athletics. Search for your child(ren)'s class page and follow that (e.g. Westlake Academy Class of 2031).

- On Instagram: Follow wablacksmiths, westlakehoc, westlakeacademyfoundation, wablacksmithathletics, blacksmithbooster, and wa_stuco. Some classes also have accounts specific to their grade.

- Go to Ivy Uniform in Colleyville, purchase uniforms, and set up an account. By creating a customer account/profile with Ivy, they will be able to tell you the sizes you last purchased and easily recommend the correct next size when the time comes - they will even mail it to you so you'll have it in 2 days.

- Order a House shirt and uniform outerwear on RevTrack if you need one! Go to RevTrack through Powerschool, click on shop and then Westlake Academy School Store.

- Download the Academic Calendar and plan your holidays.

Lunches

Dining at Westlake Academy

Westlake Academy offers a healthy and delicious hot lunch program. Food is prepared on campus by our food service company, Westlake Cafe. Lunches are served in the dining hall and Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH) on grade level schedules. The lunch period is supervised by faculty and staff members.

Hot Lunch
Hot Lunch is provided daily by the Westlake Cafe. Current monthly menus are posted on their website. Lunches are purchased with cash or with a lunch account. The Westlake Cafe uses a dedicated system for your student's lunch accounts. For initial set-up, please email Walter@westlakecafe.com. Walter Bermudez, our Catering Manager, will contact you to set up a new account.

Once you have set up your accounts, it is easy to manage your student's accounts, add funds, and see how your lunch money is being spent all from one location. You can even transfer funds from one student to another within your family account. If you have any questions please email Walter Bermudez at Walter@westlakecafe.com

Homemade Lunch
As an alternative to our catered cafeteria, Westlake Academy students are allowed to bring lunch from home. We ask that you send your child with packages and containers they can open themselves. Microwaves are available for students if used to warm items, not cook a meal, which could delay other students in line.

Beverages and Snacks

Choice of beverages and snacks are available through the caterer for cash or lunch account deductions.
