Read the book: A History of Us, The New Nation. Following are questions to guide you and to have answered for class on 01-12-2009: What are the similarities and differences of the paintings on pg. 14 and pg. 18 (G Washington and King Charles IV of Spain)? What are the “first” in our country? Why was Washington popular? How do you balance liberty and power? Was Jefferson an egalitarian? Who’s lifestyle changed the most at this time? What were Tecumseh’s goals and how did he plan to achieve them? Do you believe that non-Indian citizens of the US had a right to settle land that the US “owned” even though the land was inhabited by Native Americans? What is “political grouchiness”? Why were people from other countries “pouring into America”?   Originally Posted: 12-24-08

Review sheet for final exam is due Dec. 11. Exam covers infectious disease, earthquakes, and experimental design. Most of the second half of the review sheet comes from the Outbreak test review, so students may have much of it done already. Students should complete this outside of class and come see me for help or to go over the previous test.    Originally Posted: 12-01-08

11-06-08 8th Science- Earthquakes Map
These were due Monday. If you didn't get a stamp on yours, you have a zero for this grade. If I get it by Wed., I will count it late but accept it. There is a list of 50 earthquake sites. Students should plot the latitudes and longitudes of the earthquake locations on their maps and choose 4 areas of the world in which to design an earthquake-proof city. The packet with the assignment in it has the introductory article and the unit task directions in it, too. New lab groups have been chosen and seats assigned, but the task has not been specifically assigned yet. This looks like a great unit! :)   Originally Posted: 10-24-08
