Congratulations Westlake Academy Artists!
We are pleased to announce that several students from Westlake Academy have had art work accepted for the Art in the Square event at Southlake this weekend. This contest is only open to high school students and the quality of the work is very high. We are proud that this year the following students are going to have their art on display; Corey T., Casey T., Joelle J., Stefanie S. and Nicole S.

Congratulations WA young poets!
Earlier this spring students from Westlake Academy entered a poetry contest for young poets. Four MYP students' poems have been found worthy of publication! Only the best poems are selected for this honor. Congratulations to Kyle H., Richard, Tim, and Amber.

Congratulations State Champions!
We would like to congratulate our outstanding mathematicians who won the TMSCA State Math and Science competition in San Antonio on March 29.

Westlake Academy Student Newspaper Wins 47 Awards at Texas StateScholastic Journalism Competition
The Black Cow, the student newspaper at Westlake Academy, won more prizes at the 2008 Texas Interscholastic Press Conference than any other school newspaper in the state. 47. That includes 14 top-place finishes and one state championship for a 7th-grade student artist who beat all high school students in the state. Twenty students won prizes for their work on the monthly newspaper which gets mailed, at the student paper’s own expense, to every household in Westlake.

Westlake Academy granted IB Diploma authorization!
The Academy becomes the first school in Texas with all three programs and the fifth school in the USA to achieve such an honor. Congratulations to David Jenkins, Head of Secondary, and his team, and to the students for their dedication.
